Opinions on antidepressants ?

Q.What do you think of SSRI type anti depressants? Have you had experience with them?

A.Without a doubt SSRI and other anti depressants do help a lot of people. Its just that in some people they have adverse effects. I have tried SSRI, SNRI and TCA and none of them have made me feel any better. All of them i have had major side effects to and had to stop them, although SSRI was the worst. For me those pills are just wrong and should never be on the market for sale. Yeah they help a lot of people but it also seems they effect a lot of people with violence. For me now i wont try another anti depressant because the risk of the side effects outweight the benefits (which i have never experienced with them). Benzos work for me, i manage to get a sleep and the next day they are still in my system and they slow me down a bit and take the edge of me. I also suffer chronic insomnia so its quite often i go without sleep for a few days and im constantly on the edge. My doctor wont prescribe me benzos anymore though. He wants to give me anti depressants that dont work, even after i have explained what they do to me and how benzos do work for me. I explained to him how SSRI made me feel and act yet he wants me to try other ones. Its not worth the risk to me. Cocaine also works, the best anti depressant ever. Yea i know, you cant keep taking cocaine all the time and its not good for you. Sometimes though its enough to get me out my front door and make me more sociable when normally i sit 24-7 alone because i have no energy to go out or my mood makes me unsociable. In November last year I was put back on Prozac. I had such terrible side effects (vomiting, shaking, anxiety, sweats, hearing voices etc). Since then I've been on a drug marathon. I've tried all the different types of anti-depressants (the least likely to cause side effects of each one). None have worked. All have given me severe side effects. All they've done for me is make me fat and unhealthy. I'm now on no drugs at all (I don't even bother with sleeping pills most nights cos they don't fucking work anyway) and I feel a lot better than I have done in a long time. That could just be coincidental though.
