Depression common in people with chronic cough ?Q.More than half of people with chronic cough-a nagging cough that can last for months or even years-suffer from depressive symptoms, according to a study to be presented at the American Thoracic Society International Conference on May 23. A.That chronic cough affects the vagus nerve by compression and that denting your navel and constricting your anus works better for stimulating the vagus nerve than does an electrical device implanted in the chest. Increased symptoms of depression are side effects from some ADs. People are more complicated than coins. Genes play a role, then there are physical and psychological developments, temperament, behaviour, milieu and retinue and so on. More sides than any die. The information from a population, like in a study, is useful because it can indicate what actually does work and what may be the likelihood of the desired effect occuring. Well, that is if the study is any good, is well-designed, not the kind with built-in confounds like the vagus nerve stimulator for depression studies. Statistics can prove anything. I have a nagging cough because I am on blood pressure medication. But I had depression long before that. The fact that two things happen together doesn't prove causation. There must be proper control groups. Other Questions : "Treatment resistant" vs. "chronic" depression ?Can anyone tell me where I might find a good definition of treatment resistant depression (TRD)? RFD: uk.people.support.depression ?Depression and alcoholism are serious conditions to be sure, but at least potentially reversable and as such the word 'support' in the ng name is entirely appropriate IMHO. SSRI controversy exposes clinical "research" for charade it is! ?the European trials had mild to moderate depression, rather than severe depression.
