Proof that pain and depression are linked ?Q.Can anybody direct me to publications or research that proves pain and depression are related? My wife was in a car accident three years ago and went into a depression that I (and she) believes is a result of the cronic pain. The intensity of the pain had eventually resided, but there was still a chronic characteristic involved. As a result she fell into a full clinical depression that lasted almost two years. A.Also try Medscape.com......I just typed "pain and depression" into their search box and 25 references came up....just glancing at the titles tells me that some would not be what you are seeking....I think...but not sure that thru this site you can get AT least a summary of these articles..prob not the entire thing...But then you could scale down a list,,,then go to a good library and search for them there.... "This invisible man has a place for you full of fire, smoke, burning and torture and he will send you there to choke, scream, die, suffer and burn for the end of time. I'm now in a deep depression after 20 years of increasing full body central pain. The depression sure is pain related - because of the pains I can't leave home, can't eat, can't sit comfortably, and can't lay comfortably (among other things.) That's why I'm depressed. I don't know of any research, but I can fully vouch for it myself. I had a back injury back in May, herniating a lumbar disk in my back and causing bad sciatic nerve pain down my right leg. The only way I could get myself to shake the horrible feelings I was having was to go off my pain medication. Although the pain was much worse after stopping the medicine I seemed to do better mentally. I'm actually doing better now overall, but that's probably 'cause I'm 22 and still able to heal pretty readily (I hope). Maybe before too long I can get my computer off my floor and back on the desk where it belongs Other Questions : Postpartum Depression And AnxietyI DO know about post-partum depression, and it's not fun.
