Hi everyone - anyone here got Clinical Depression?Q.A couple of months ago, i was diagnosed with Clinical Depression after I was rushed to the hospital because of an overdose. (Loooooonnnnnnngggggg story) I am on medication right now and I am seeing a counsellor regularily. I would really appreciate any support right now. After going to the hospital, I never thought about suicide again, but, well, I don't know, maybe i am sort of thinking of it again. I know its not the only way out, but it is the easiest. Inside, I don't want to die but I can't help thinking it. I am afraid to tell my counsellor. A.had to chuckle at your "subject". That's like asking if anybody has fleas at the Dog Pound! Anyway, yes. Quite a few people here are diagnosed CD. I'm sorry that you are, too. This is a very good place to get some support, and to talk to people who are dealing with many of the same problems you are. I have clinical depression. I almost killed myself this morning. and I still feel like dying. but i'm too sore to try again till tomorrow. Yes, many of us do and I'm glad you came. I'm happy to hear you are getting treatment. You are right, it's not the way. Sure, it is the easiest way to solve your problem, but it causes so many more for the people you love. I've thought of that option many times myself, but I always come to the conclusion that I don't want to saddle my daughter with that baggage. There are some great people here and I hope you stay around long enough to get to know some of them. There's a difference between suicidal I-have-a-plan-I'm-going-to-do-it suicidal and suicidal ideations ("I'm thinking about suicide; sounds sorta interesting.") Your counsellor should be able to tell the difference. Please don't hesitate to tell your counsellor what you are thinking -- he/she needs to know in order to help you. I have been in the hospital five times, once for a nearly fatal overdose, so I know where you've been. have had trouble with clinical depression for a long time, but I'm feeling okay now because medication got me out of the depression and I have a good, caring psychotherapist. I also attend a support group for people with depression and other nervous illnesses. Depression is an illness, often with a physical cause, chemical imbalance etc. I am sorry you have this, but there is good help available. You are doing the best thing by talking to a counselor and taking medication (meds). What medication are you taking? It often takes several tries to find the medication that is right for you. I tried zooloft which didnt do much, then tried effexor which works great. Effexor seems to help a lot of people with very few or no side effects. You could mention it to your counselor.
