depression recovery?

Q.I know this topic has been discussed before but I was just sitting here wondering again about the answers that were given. Is there any such thing as 'recovery' from depression. I don't believe there is a recovery. There are, without doubt, times when people feel better and may think they're better but does it really last? In my case I get to thinking that I'm on the right track at long last and then pretty soon after that I crash again and am back to square one. Then it's a slow process building up again only to crash at the end of it. Would it be a better way to accept now that there is no recovery from depression and learn to live with it. I'm beginning to feel like I'm wasting my time working towards a recovery that never seems any closer. Is there anybody out there that believes they have truly 'recovered'?

A.I work a lot now learning to live with depression. It's here, the docs don't seem to be able to do anything with it, so I need to create a life where I get as much as I can within the confines of my illness. Much as a person with cancer or heart problems may need to limit what they can do. That said, I have to keep looking for possible "cures." If I don't look, I know I will curl up and die. But I'm now more skeptical about the "cures." I'm quicker to say that side effects are intolerable. I guess we each have make our own decisions about where we stand (or more likely slump over) on the line of recovery
