Definition Of Post Partum Depression. Post Abortion Stress Syndrome ?Q.Does it affect your life? If you've had an abortion, and need help coping with the way you feel afterwards, visit the Post Abortion Stress Syndrome Support and Research Page for help, information, message boards and ideas for healing A.Articles such as these leave a grieving person hanging as what to do about how they feel. You offer no alternatives to these women and you put in a universe of mentally ill people. There is a condition as PAS/PASS and in time as the condition is encountered a better definition of symptoms will occur. According to a recent study, there are no people. Everyone who came to the study site to object had to be removed from the count, and the study had to be moved to outer space where a true random sample could be taken uninfluenced by ... I'm giving this too much attention. Women needing help with PAS will not be held back from getting help because you feel like pretending that these people don't exist. So, if you want to play games with reality, that's up to you. I recommend that you read a book called *The Overdiseasing of America." Sorry, I don't remember the author's name, since I read the book about three years ago and I borrowed a copy. In the book, the author condemns the incessant need in this country to compartmentalize and codify every single emotional reaction as a disease or syndrome. It's ludicrous that the DSM-III-R lists so many disorders like "sugar addiction syndrome" and "chocolate addiction syndrome." The DSM-IV is even worse. We don't need to do the same with a woman, rare as she is, who experiences severe negative emotional reaction following an abortion, or even with a woman who experiences severe postpartum negative reactions--what is now called "postpartum psychosis"--unless the latter is medically verified as a brain-based disorder. What are these few women experiencing long-term then? Regret, guilt, anxiety, and depression. That's it. They're feelings--they do not signify that the women are "sick." I had a photograph in Life magazine and won a state wide photography competition by the age of 14, and was the youngest trombone player in the CMEA honor band and was invited to travel Europe by a band by the time I was 16. If you want to call me "unthinking", that's up to you, but I think your integrity needs a thorough check. And, your denial of the existence of post abortion syndrome is so ludicrous that I cannot understand how anyone could lack both the intelligence and integrity not to mention the shame to try to convince others that this doesn't exist. Why? To prove something doesn't exist, you need to prove that it is logically impossible for it to exist or prove that you have done an exhaustive search of all possible locations and found it not existing everywhere. Post Partum Syndrome exists. Nobody tries to deny this. But, this relatively short lived syndrome is nothing compared to the agony some feel for years after an abortion. It's like the death of a child. Marriages and relationships go through a tough time and many don't survive.
