Medications for OCD / Anexity / Depression ?
Q.I am currently on 225mg of Effexxor xr daily (For depression, anexity). I have severe anixeity, and I am very cripled from the anixeity, that has now been possibly identified as ocd. I am wondering what other medications any of you may have had sucess with combining with Effexxor to treat OCD and Anexity.
A.I would see what the group here says as I don't fully understand obsessive-complusive disorder. I don't know at what exact point an activity becomes medically declared as this. It may depend on what the exact activity is. (I have a disorder that is in this family. At least I think so, but won't go into it on the board. Not easy to talk about. ) Welcome to ASAPM! I`m so sorry that you are struggling with such severe anxiety. Probably the best person to ask these questions are your doctor. He would know better than anyone else what may or may not work for you. With that being said....I will offer some advice as to what "I" might do if I were in your situation. The first thing would be to increase the dose of the meds I were currently on, with my doctors okay, of course :) Do you feel the effexor has helped your depression and anxiety at all? If you are crippled by anxiety, that tells me that effexor may not be the medication for you. About upping your dose of effexor..........I think you are at the maximum dose for it. I have not been treated for OCD in the past, it was previously undiagnosed. Previously I have been treated for Depression, Anxiety, and ADHD. I can only imagine how fustrated and discouraged you feel by trying so many different things with minimal results. How was your appt with the new doctor? Is this a psychiatrist or regular doc? I hope it was a productive visit. Let us know how it went!!
