Depression Glass ?Q.Does anyone have information on whether or not depression comes in CLEAR colored glass. I have 2 glasses that have the same design as colored ones, only they are clear. A.Yes, depression glass comes in "clear" (which is called "crystal" color) as well as colored (see-through) glass. In fact, there is very little depression glass that is not clear glass (whether colored or not.) There are a variety of books on depression glass at your local library or bookstore; since it's impossible to describe a pattern with words, let your fingers do the walking through the books, until you find a pattern that matches what you have. Well... that's not completely true. There were quite a few glass colors used in the depression era that weren't transparent -- some opaque and/or translucent white, an opaque blue (sometimes called Delphite,) jade green (the ubiquitous jadeite or jadite.) There was black opaque glass and black glass that was really a deep amethyst (the Mt. Pleasant pattern was made in both) and even red and yellow opaques, to name a few. (Fenton's depression-era pieces come to mind.) Aladdin's Alacite glass is opaque. There is even some opalescent glass in depression-era patterns True, only some opaque glass was made in the most-collected patterns (which are the ones you'll find in most of the Depression Glass books, like Gene Florence's and Warman's encyclopedias.) You'll find a lot more information about glass colors other than the traditional clear pink, green, yellow, etc. in Hazel Weatherman's Colored Glassware of the Depression Era II (one of the best books on 20th century American glass, IMHO -- if you're interested in the subject, beg, borrow or steal a copy, by all means.) Other Questions : Cognitive Therapy poll ?I know that Cognitive Therapy (as developed at the Center for Cognitive Therapy) and intrapersonal therapy have been touted as the only effective therapies for depression (gee, I've been reading the FAQ again, haven't I!). However, what I WANT...
