BECK depression Inventory ?

Q.Yet another former lurker comes out from behind the veil of the 'net. But I am not sure that I belong here. I have many symptoms of depression, and I THINK I would classify as clinically depressed, but I don't want to get involved with therapy and drugs and stuff. Is that a bad decision? Perhaps those with both positive and negative experiences with therapy could respond to this question. I would appreciate it.

A.I'd say that it is. How about an analogy? "My car sputters and stalls a lot. I THINK it needs a tune-up. But I don't want to get involved with spark plugs and timing lights and such." I think you'd have your car in and get it fixed so it runs right. And you are more important than your car is! The year after I first went on medication was probably the most productive year I have had in my career. if you feel you have depression seek help. it is better to get help if you are than to have to suffer with it and have it out of control. why feel down when some counseling and maybe if needed medication can help you and put the spring back into your step? I know what you are going threw. I've been there. I spent many years saying; ya I have a problem but I can deal with it myself. Well I was wrong. It got to the point where I needed help but was just to weak to ask anymore. Plus I didn't realize that I was not enjoying life. This depression thing can be with you for a long time and it just slowly creaps up on you. You are just to close to it to notice. If you think that your are clinically depressed then please talk to someone who has the knowledge to make this evalution for you.
