Residential care for depression (London)?Q.I'm looking for private residential treatment for depression for my brother who is suffering from severe depression. He lives in central London. Can anyone recommend anywhere? A.He has been receiving counselling for some time, but it isn't proving effective. My father believes it is worth trying to get him some "time out" from family and work coupled with treatment for the depression. i can imagine that of you go with him to his GP and asked to be referred to a private psychiatrist, that they in turn will be able to recommend inpatient clinics or hospitals. i'm not fully aware of how many such private places exist to be honest. sorry i'm not being much help. just one thing...your brother has to want to go into hospital otherwise the whole process may turn out to be detrimental for him :( You could try Abbeydale Court in Walthamstow. Its a general psychiatric clinic, but very good. I spent time there courtesy of the NHS and was treated well. I'm sure they will be in the phone book...
